about

‘Loving Echoes’ is the first solo album by New Zealand recording artist Scott Mannion, co-founder of Lil' Chief Records (Jonathan Bree, Princess Chelsea, the Ruby Suns) now living and recording in a medieval town in the mountains outside of Valencia, Spain. The album’s 10 tracks chronicle the timeline of an ill-fated relationship. A cult figure in the New Zealand alternative music canon, it is his first release in 15 years.

Track Name: Not Exactly Deep
What you mean to me
It's not exactly deep
But still I'd like to keep on
Loving you my sweet one

What you mean to me
It's not exactly deep
Still I'd like a repeat of
That feeling that you bring on

Oh, oh no
I'm not letting myself let
This get deep

It was nothing at all
You know that we were just fooling
It was nothing at all
Shouldn't have to say
It was nothing at all
This is how I recall it
Honest

What you mean to me
It's not exactly deep
But still I'd like to believe ya
When you say that you need me
Track Name: You Are the Substance That I Can't Live Without
I never promised that I would be honest, but I try
I never made out that things would be great and that you’d never cry
But you’re pulling me under, the fire and thunder, in your eyes
You’ve struck me dumb see, I am completely petrified

And it feels like nothing
It feels like nothing
It feels like nothing, but
You are the substance that I can’t live without

I think it’s symbolic all this blood and vomit we’re tied up in
Oh, still we speak those, loving echoes and fantasize
But now I’m enraptured, truly captured, by the awful truth
I wanna shoot you up, but it’s just never enough, so I’m through
Track Name: Your Kinda Love
Your kind of love, it can get me down love
Such a heavy love that I'm often smothered
You might think it's all a game but
Pretty soon there'll be no one to play you
Cause your kind of love it's gonna bring us down love

(but) there's something beautiful about the way you lie

Your kind of love it's a lost and found love
I'll never know just how you really feel about us
You've been chipping away at the edifice
So pretty soon there'll be nothing left of us
Your kind of love it's gonna bring us down love

(but) there's something beautiful about the way you lie

Your kinda love
